Cutting ties: distancing ourselves from difficult situations or people

Even with the best will in the world, it can be very difficult to distance ourselves from events, situations or even people who are having a negative impact upon our wellbeing.

We all have people or events that cause a strong emotional reaction when we think about them.  More often than not, these emotional reactions are negative and leave us feeling drained, resentful or even depressed.  We can’t change the past but we can change the way we react to it.  Understandably, this is easier said then done and the reason why we react so strongly is because those people or events are so entrenched in our emotional bodies.

Reiki helps heal the aspects of the body, mind and emotions that most require it.  Reiki therapists can direct the Reiki energies to where they are most needed and sometimes the client won’t even be aware of what is causing them to feel so out of balance.

There is a specific Reiki process that can help you cut ties.  You will need to think carefully about the aspects of your life you would like to distance yourself from and it is advisable to only address one person/event/situation per treatment.  It does not mean that after a session the person causing you upset will disappear completely out of your life or that the past event will be erased from your memory, but what it does mean is that you will be empowered to free yourself from the negative connotations of that relationship or event. Each tie cutting process is followed by a Reiki healing session so that any emotions created or released by the process can be addressed and sent healing.
