A little update…

Wow – what a year 2020 has been so far…and that feels like an understatement!

January, February, and early March saw me run off my feet: fully booked up appointments and classes, plus loads of new yogis beginning their yoga journey. All this combined with finding out that we were expected a little bundle of joy in August. Everything looked set to be a brilliant (yet hectic) year. Then come mid-March everything seemed to change overnight. For so many of us, the rug was quite literally pulled out from under us and we were all left questioning what was was going to happen.

It was impossible to make any plans for the future of a business like mine in the short term as being so client-facing, there was no way I could run any of the sports or holistic therapy aspects of it, plus I found myself in the ‘vulnerable’ group so had to be extra careful. Many yoga teachers switched to online teaching and so I decided to run some online yoga classes, reiki and aromatherapy sessions. At the beginning of lockdown, I think these were really helpful because it meant we could reach out to each other online even when we had lost that face to face connection we all craved.

As the year has progressed, I’ve spent time catching up on all the CPD I had scheduled in but hadn’t got around to doing. This means that I have finally qualified as a Level 4 NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, which basically means I can now offer very specific corrective exercise programmes to clients to help them overcome certain postural issues, perhaps acquired as a result of an injury or due to repetitive movement patterns. I also completed my NASM Women’s Fitness Specialist and Group Personal Training qualifications. I’m really excited about the future with these new specialisms as NASM courses are very highly regarded (and let me tell you, hard work to complete!), and are also in fields that I am really passionate about; I know first hand what a difference it makes to be able to move better and will also be putting what I have learned into practice for my own post-natal recovery – keep your eyes peeled for pre- and post-natal options coming to the business very soon!

I also decided to add to the more holistic side of the business, with the completion of a baby massage course and I cannot wait to be able to offer this as an online option.

I’m still in the process of working out just how to progress different aspects of the business from face to face to online options but I am aiming to be back from maternity leave late October. In the meantime, I will be updating my working hours and opening my diary in SEPTEMBER so please email me on info@bodyeq.co.uk. My phone number is not monitored on a regular basis at the moment so email is the preferred contact method please. So not long to go and I’m sure the next few weeks will fly by!

I will, of course, keep you all updated as to when our new arrival decides to grace us with his presence! Please join me in crossing your fingers that rules will be relaxed a little more so that the hospital stay is a bit more relaxed than current guidelines allow for.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and friendship over the last few months. Things will get back to (some form of) normal eventually and I can’t wait to see you all and catch up properly. In the meantime, stay safe and look after yourselves.
